"GLOBAL WARMING: DO WE KNOW ENOUGH TO MANAGE THE RISKS?"
MONDAY, JANUARY 7, 2008, 7:00 PM at the MERLOT THEATER, WELLS FARGO CENTER 50 MARK SPRINGS ROAD, SANTA ROSA - FREE ADMISSION
The Climate Protection Campaign email announced the following yesterday:
"Stephen H. Schneider, Ph.D., is a Professor at Stanford University, the Founder/Editor of the Journal, Climatic Change, a member of the United Nations’ Intergovernmetal Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) from its inception, and a contributor to all four IPCC Assessment Reports. IPCC has just been awarded the Nobel Prize with Al Gore.
Dr. Schneider’s lecture will describe the current assessment of the complex sociotechnical challenge presented by climate change and, given the uncertainties in projecting global climate change and its impact, will suggest the application of risk management strategies to climate policy decision-making. Local, regional, and international actions are beginning, but stronger political will is necessary in order to substantially reduce the magnitude of the risks.
The event is sponsored by the Sonoma County Chapter of the United Nations Association of the United States of America, the Redwood Chapter of the Sierra Club, the Sonoma Academy, the Redwood Empire Chapter of the U. S.
Green Building Council, Sonoma Mountain Village, and the Leadership Institute for Ecology and the Economy."
